Privacy Policy
Readi Labs Inc. ("we", "the Company") complies with the Personal Information Protection Act of Korea and related laws, and handles the personal information of people who use the Readi Ready service and website (readiready.com, together "the Service") as described below. This English version is provided for convenience; the Korean version is the authoritative text.
1. What we collect and how
| Category | Items | How it is collected |
|---|---|---|
| Website inquiries | Name, email, academy/organization (optional), role (optional), message | The contact form on the homepage |
| Account information | Email, name, password (stored hashed), interface language, English name (optional), date of birth (optional) | Accepting an invitation from an academy or teacher, a parent registering a child profile, an academy importing a roster |
| Learning data | Audio recordings of reading practice (video if the learner chooses), pronunciation assessment results (per-word and per-phoneme accuracy), assignment submissions and progress, star and reward history | Generated while using the Service |
| Automatically collected | Access logs, browser and device type, error and performance information | Generated automatically while using the Service |
2. Why we use it
- Responding to inquiries and consulting on adopting the Service
- Identifying members, signing in, managing accounts, and resetting passwords
- Analyzing English pronunciation and providing feedback; managing progress, assignments, and rewards
- Providing learning reports to teachers and parents
- Improving quality, analyzing errors, and preventing abuse
3. How long we keep it
- Website inquiries: kept for up to one year after the inquiry is handled, then deleted.
- Accounts and learning data: where you delete your own account, it is disabled immediately and erased after a 7-day grace period; logging in during that period and cancelling restores the account and its data intact. An account created under an academy or institutional contract cannot be deleted by the user directly — a deletion request is forwarded to that institution, the account stays usable until the institution acts on it, and it is deleted at that institution's request or when the contract ends.
- Retention required by law: information that applicable law requires us to keep for a set period (for example, records of consumer complaints and dispute handling for three years under the Act on Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce) is kept for that period.
4. Sharing with third parties
We do not provide personal information to third parties, except with the separate consent of the data subject (or the legal guardian, for children under 14) or where specifically required by law. Academies, teachers, and parents viewing learning results inside the Service is use within the purpose of providing the Service.
5. Processors and cross-border transfers
We entrust the following processing to service providers in order to operate the Service, and supervise them as required by law.
| Processor | Task | Information transferred |
|---|---|---|
| Google Cloud (Google LLC) | Hosting, data storage, native-speaker speech synthesis | Service data in general (stored in the Seoul region) |
| Microsoft Azure (Microsoft Corporation) | Speech recognition and pronunciation assessment | Reading-practice audio and the sentence read (for assessment; we keep the results afterward) |
| Google Workspace (Google LLC) | Sending email (invitations, password resets, inquiry notifications) | Email address, name; for inquiry notifications also the academy/organization, role, and message entered in the contact form |
| Google Fonts (Google LLC), jsDelivr (Prospect One) | Serving the website's font files | The IP address and browser information sent with each font request (website visits only) |
Personal information may be transferred to servers outside Korea in the course of this processing. We limit what is transferred to the minimum needed to provide the Service.
6. Children under 14
Most learners on the Service are children under 14. We obtain the consent of a legal guardian (parent) before processing a child's personal information, and where accounts are created through an academy or institution we require that institution to confirm guardian consent. A guardian may request access to, correction of, or deletion of their child's personal information at any time.
7. Your rights
Data subjects (or their legal guardians) may request access to, correction or deletion of, or suspension of processing of their personal information. Requests made through the Service settings or the contact below are handled without delay. Step-by-step instructions are on the Delete your account page.
You can delete your account yourself in the Service under Settings → Delete account. Deleting a guardian account also deletes the child profiles it manages and their learning data. An account created through an academy or institution can send a deletion request to that academy’s administrators from the same screen, since the institution holds the contract.
8. Deletion
Personal information whose retention period has passed or whose purpose has been fulfilled is deleted without delay. Where a user has asked us to delete their own account, we wait 7 days before erasing it so an accidental deletion can be undone; the account is disabled and unusable during that period. Electronic files — including audio and video recordings — are erased irreversibly; printed material is shredded or incinerated.
9. Security measures
- One-way hashed passwords and encryption in transit (HTTPS)
- Role-based access control and access logging
- Private cloud storage with access limited through signed URLs
10. Privacy officer
